A stage or platform is where something can arrive. Waiting. Where a series of movements can happen. A complete structure, disassembled, then manufactured anew. (Repeat).

A detective novel begins with two murders. This could mean two of anything (action, event, work)—the latter only existing because of the former.

One has to happen for the story/work to start and unfold. To progress. Two objects depending on one another to be seen.

The voice of god dying. An estranged family member. Any relationship or object that becomes extinct.

The redirection of something that strikes the surface: light, sound, heat, and usually back toward its point of origin.

Disintegration.

For Poe, it is the body segmented, represented in an unnatural way: the beating heart. “The Tell Tale Heart”, the man with milky eyes, artificially sustained and lifeless.
