| Issue One Limited Editions Artists Biographies Becky Beasley is an artist who also writes. Recent solo exhibitions: Three Notable American Novellas, Laura Bartlett Gallery (London, November December 2007) and Eleven Years Later, Office Baroque (Antwerp, October November 2007) up David Raymond Conroy was born in Reading, Berkshire in 1978. He attended Sheffield Hallam University and then went on to complete a Masters at the Royal College of Art in 2007. He was shortlisted for the Art Gene prize in 2007 and his most recent exhibitions include Things that Appear, Hay Gallery, Colchester Institute (Essex, England), Underground at the Subway Gallery (London, England), Evangelisch Katholisch VI (finale), Galerie Montgomery (Berlin, Germany), and Kunstwurst, Café Gallery Projects (London, England). Conroy lives and works in London. up Nicholas Grider is an artist and writer currently living in Los Angeles. up Marie Jager was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1975. She is now based in Los Angeles where she received her MFA from the University of Southern California in 2004. Her work has been presented in such venues as Artists Space (New York), China Art Objects (Los Angeles), the MAK Center (Los Angeles), Croy Nielsen (Berlin), and Jeffrey Charles Gallery (London). She was included in the 2006 California Biennial and her work was recently part of the DVD Compiler 2 curated by Daniel Bauman and screened at the Swiss Institute in New York. Her work has been written about recently in Flash Art and Artforum. up Katie Lewis studied Art and Art History at Dartmouth College before attending New York University's Institute of Fine Arts to obtain her MA in Art History. She then relocated to the West Coast and finished her MFA at the California Institute of the Arts, where she now teaches. She currently works, writes, and paints in Los Angeles. up Jacob Melchi primarily a visual artist, Melchi’s practice is one that allows for a high degree of experimentation. He lives and works in Los Angeles. up Arthur Ou born in Taipei, Taiwan, he studied civil engineering at the University of California at Irvine between 1992 and 1995, before receiving a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York in 1997, and an MFA from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut in 2000. Selected solo exhibitions include To Preserve, To Elevate, To Cancel at Hudson Franklin Gallery in New York (2007), and On Every New Thing There Lies Already the Shadow of Annihilation at IT Park Gallery in Taipei, Taiwan (2005). He has also appeared in numerous group exhibitions around the world including the 2006 Taipei Biennial at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. He is represented by Hudson Franklin Gallery in New York. Arthur Ou lives and works in Los Angeles. up Augusta Wood Wood’s photographic work involves performance and temporality, language and instability, proposing the collapse and collusion of imaged and literary space. She received her BFA from the Cooper Union in New York and her MFA in Photography and Media from the California Institute of the Arts. Her work has been shown in Los Angeles at Cherry and Martin (solo), Kantor/Feuer Gallery, The Armory Center for the Arts, The Wight Biennial at UCLA, among others, as well as in New York, Cuba, and Europe. She is represented by Cherry and Martin in Los Angeles. up Duncan Wooldridge is an artist and lecturer based in London, England. He holds a First Class Honours Degree from Southampton Solent University and an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art, London, in 2003 and 2006 respectively. Investigating reproduction and acts of art historical repetition, he is currently investigating different manifestations of Yves Klein's International Klein Blue, using photographic reproductions from catalogues, postcards and the internet, as well as taking producing a number of monochrome canvases showing different occasions of 'colour matching' from various paint mixing processes. up |
